You may feel like you’re at the end of the Earth when you visit Antarctica (and you wouldn’t be entirely wrong). But there’s still a plethora of wildlife to look out for down there. Penguins, seals, seabirds and more will all earn their place in your memory of the world’s most surreal continent.

But for now, scroll down and see which Antarctic creatures featured in our traveller’s Instagram feeds this week.

A gentoo penguin and her chick look on curiously as the @g_expedition passes by Brown Bluff in Antarctic Sound.

This leopard seal was in no hurry to move as he lounged on an iceberg. Thanks to traveller @krodeghier for this pic!

Spot the chinstrap penguin in this pic from @thed63! These penguins can be found throughout the Southern Pacific and Antarctic oceans. They are also known as ”stonecracker penguins” due to the harshness of their cries.

A skua soars above the waves. These seabirds will often scavenge from the kills of other Antarctic creatures and have been seen as far south as the South Pole. This one was spotted by @subanaliev_t.

Finally, for your daily dose of “d’awww”, @sand_58 captures the moment these two king penguins were happy to be reunited.
