The Galápagos Islands made their first appearance on any map in 1570 and although they’re known for being the home of endemic wildlife made popular by Charles Darwin, the archipelago has also served as a hideout for pirates, a post office for whaling ships, and a US naval base during WWII. What's clear from our Instagrams of the Week though, is that wildlife and landscape remain the stars of the show. And we wouldn't want it any other way.
